The Piedmont University women’s tennis team returned to action this fall following an exceptional 21-3 record last season, which included their fifth consecutive appearance in the conference championship match.
“We had a great fall season and learned a lot about ourselves,” said senior Sarah Row. “We’re in a good place heading into the spring. Many of our younger players gained valuable experience competing alongside our upperclassmen, which will make a big difference as we move forward.”
Although the Lady Lions fell short of securing a championship title for the first time in four years, the team remains motivated to reclaim the conference crown this spring. With several impactful seniors graduating, the returning players are focused on continuing Piedmont’s tradition of excellence and bringing another trophy back to Demorest.

On the men’s side, Piedmont entered the fall determined to build upon another winning season under Head Coach Matt Williams.
“This fall, Coach Matt has really pushed us to become our best selves in every aspect of the game,” said junior Charles Parnell. “Between the early morning conditioning sessions and the long hours of daily practice, we’re preparing to outlast our opponents not only physically but mentally as well.”
The Piedmont men’s tennis team will conclude their fall campaign on Oct. 24–25, when they host the Fall Foliage Classic. Both programs look poised for strong performances as they prepare for the highly anticipated spring season.
