Demorest, Ga. – Livia Skinner continued her outstanding performance Tuesday night at Cave Arena to lead the Lady Lions past the Maryville College Scots 74-62.

The Lady Lions took control of the game from the jump and never trailed throughout the entirety of the game. This win marked Head Coach Jamie Purdy’s 300th career win as the Lion’s coach.

Livia Skinner led her team to a victory scoring 24 points, and shooting a phenomenal performance from the three-pointer line 5-of-8. Her fellow teammate Hope Franklin had 14 points and 11 rebounds to give her a double-double on the night.

Hannah Jones for the Maryville Scots had 21 points and nine rebounds. Her fellow junior teammate Courtney Curruthers added in 13.

Going into the second quarter the score was all tied up 17 a piece and then the Lady Lions went on an unanswered 9-0 run and continued to shine till the ending buzzer.

In the opening of the third, Skinner swished a long three-point attempt to give her team a double-digit lead. Piedmont was on fire offensively and their pressure on defense was too much for the Scots to handle. Piedmont led by as many as 17 points in the quarter at 55-38 before the Scots went on a 9-0 run themselves.

In the fourth quarter, Maryville went on another run to cut the deficit to 10 points, but was not able to close the gap any closer. The Lions pressed the entire game and because of their depth they were able to come out on top.

Piedmont will play host to Berea College this Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
