Piedmont Falls to Transylvania

Lexington, Ky. – The Piedmont Lady Lions basketball team took a tough loss vs. Transylvania University to wrap up their two day Thanksgiving tournament, falling 76-46 Sunday afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Pioneers came out with urgency from the first whistle all the way to the end of the game. They took control in the second quarter and continued to build on the lead throughout the entirety of the game.

Livia Skinner was the only Lady Lion to score in double digits, leading the way for the Lions with 10 points.

Piedmont had a lead throughout the entirety of the first quarter. Piedmont led 13-9 at the end of the 1st. However, Transylvania came back with an answer of their own to lead 19-16 going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Piedmont was behind only four points with the score being 24-20 until Transylvania went on a run. The Pioneers went on a 14-2 run to take the lead 38-22 with two minutes left in the second quarter. However, Piedmont went on a run of their own to close the half with a 8-0 run to make the score at half 30-38.

Coming out of the half Transylavnia had momentum the rest of the game to go on a 17-0 in the third quarter and was out of reach from there on for the Lady Lions team. The Lady Lions scored a combined 16 points in the second half.

The Lady Lions next game will be on Saturday, Dec. 4 vs Huntingdon College at 3 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama.
