Lexington, Ky. – Livia Skinner had a career night for the Lady Lions, but it wasn’t quite enough to push the Lady Lions to a victory. The Piedmont Lady Lions fell 84-69 to Alma College Saturday evening in the Pat Deacon Thanksgiving Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Scots team was on fire from behind the arc shooting 14-of-22 three pointers including five a piece from the hot handers Stasha Warchock and Taylor Sas.

Alma’s intensity and grit started from the opening tip giving them the lead the entire game, with Piedmon’s only lead from the first minute of the game with a 2-0 lead.

Even though Piedmont came up short, Skinner prevailed all game leading all scorers with 28 points. She shot 75% from the 3-point line and 69% from the field. She also shot 100% from the free throw line leading the Lions from the charity stripe.

The Scots were on fire from the opening tip and put up 24 points just in the first quarter. Alma shot 66% from the field and made 87% of their three point shots put on net.

In the second quarter the Lions scored 23 points of their own to stay in reach of the Scots offensive game. However, Alma made 12-16 from behind the arc total in the first half. The Lions made all 6 attempts from the charity stripe, and trailed 49-41 going into halftime.

In the third, Alma led by as many as 14 points, but the Lions had a small run in them and went on a 9-0 run to cut the game to 59-54. However, the Scots responded with a run of their own with a 5-0 spread and ended the quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to put the lead to 10 going into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was too much to handle for the Lady Lions defense as Alma lead by double digits for the entire quarter to seal the final score 84-69

The Lions will finish their play at the Thanksgiving tournament Nov. 28 at 3 p.m.taking on Transylvania College.
