APRIL FOOLS: Got acronym? Piedmont to expand catalogue

Emma Marti, Opinions Editor

With Piedmont College to officially become Piedmont University on April 9, they will be adding new schools in order to expand their catalogue.

The School of Learning Universal Technology is being created in order to help students who are not comfortable with using technology. The goal of the School of Learning Universal Technology is to make those students feel comfortable with the changing technology of today and help them to succeed in whatever career they are pursuing.

The math department at Piedmont is excited to be able to extend their help and influence on campus.

The School of Learning Universal Technology is one of the new schools to start at Piedmont University.

“We’re very excited that the President wanted to create the School of Learning Universal Technology,” said Dr. Michael Berglund, chair of the mathematical sciences department. “We’re excited to have a hand in helping students and faculty expand their knowledge and comfort of technology.”

Another school that Piedmont College  University is starting is the Demorest-Athens Multicultural Society. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council is expanding to become the Demorest-Athens Multicultural Society. With this expansion, the council will be promoting all staff to be a part of the Demorest-Athens Multicultural Society full time, so that they can focus all their time and energy on this position over all other positions they may hold.

The last school being added to Piedmont College University is the School of Humanities, Information, Technology and Sciences. This school is going to be led by different faculty members. Dr. Joe Dennis, chair of the mass communications department, as well as Professor Ryan Franklin, assistant professor of history, are going to be the two leaders of the School of Humanities, Information, Technology and Sciences.

“I think that the addition of the School of Humanities, Information, Technology and Sciences is going to make Piedmont a greater school than it already is,” said Dennis. “I’m so excited to work with Professor Franklin, I think we will be able to get a lot done with the School of Humanities, Information, Technology and Sciences.”

Anyone who is interested in these new additions to Piedmont College University can contact the heads of each department.
