Creative Corner: Ellie

by Sarah Brown

I see the world in mute

colors

Dark and bold are only black and white

But I’d like to see many of the others

If I wasn’t this way, if I wasn’t right.

I’ve seen the world for many years

For two hundred I’ve been twelve

Yet no one has seen the frozen tears

I know- know them all too well.

I hide away, the sun too bright

For my skin to bear

But to find darkness in light

I’ve found it nowhere-

Only one person, one person only

Can know true of me

I’ve found that I trust him solely

With whatever there was to be.

I like him, le like me

We travel through this life

He proposed and I agreed

To forget the pain and strife.
