Piedmont is hosting the Color Run, a 5k race, on Sat., Sept. 19.
While sitting in a marketing class, sophomore business major Alex Childers had the idea to create a fundraiser for Grace Gate Inc., a nonprofit health clinic in Habersham County. She and her friend, junior business major Morgan McCalla, paired together to turn the idea into a Compass project.
“I took the idea of the fundraiser and literally ran with it,” said Childers.
According to Childers, everyone who is participating in the race will need to arrive at the Piedmont College Mize Athletic Center by 8 a.m. The race will officially begin at 9 a.m.
Runners will begin at the Mize Athletic Center, and they will run though various parts of the campus until returning back at the Mize Athletic Center.
“I personally have never done the Color Run, and I’m looking forward to everyone having a blast,” said Childers.
During the race, while runners or walkers pass by, they will be sprayed with powdered color, according to McCalla.
At the end of the race, there will be a “color blowing station” to attempt to blow off some of the excess color.
Prices to participate in the race are $10 for students and $20 for the general public. These prices will increase after Sept. 16.
On the day of the race, prices to participate will increase to $15 for students and $25 for the general public.
“The Color Run is a wonderful opportunity to have fun with your friends while helping the community,” said McCalla.
