In the words of head coach Sidney Feldman, celebrating, who is 40 years of coaching this season, the goal is simple: win the conference.

“I expect [the team] to challenge for the top spot,” said Feldman

Entering the season ranked third in the coaches’ preseason poll, the road to the top might not be that long at all.

“The rankings were silly!… None of the other coaches know the talent of our team…,” said Feldman.

With 10 returners, three freshmen, and two Piedmont students new to the program this year, the talent possibilities are known only to the coach and the women on the floor.

“We have been hitting the weights as well as having intense practices,” said senior middle hitter Danielle Maffett.

With a year of experience in the USA South to learn from, and the knowledge of travel requirements in Feldman’s court, the girls have plenty of assets to work off of.

The girls enter this season coming off a 2012 record of 13-6-1, with a conference record of 6-4-1.

The first home match of the season is set for September 7 at noon against Oglethorpe College.
