Piedmont’s photojournalism class recently took a field trip to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in the state of Georgia.

“We’re covering nature photography, and what better way to get experience shooting nature than going out into nature,” said Dr. Joe Dennis, associate professor of mass communications professor instructor of the course.

Brasstown Bald, a part of the Appalachian Trail, rises 4,784 feet above sea level and is just 40 minutes from Piedmont’s campus. Students hiked up the steep 0.6-mile trail to the top of the mountain, where they took photos.
