The Piedmont College Athens Campus has a newly renovated home for the library and the School of Nursing & Health Sciences.
These two centers, which were previously housed off the main campus, are now located in The Commons, the main academic building on the Athens campus. The new space also includes faculty offices and two nursing labs with simulated hospital rooms and patients.
On Sept. 14, Piedmont administration held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the official opening of the renovated space. Among the officials representing Piedmont College were James Mellichamp, President of Piedmont College, Thomas “Gus” Arrendale, Piedmont Board Chairman, Julia Behr, Nursing & Health Sciences Dean and Bob Glass, Dean of Libraries.
Bob Glass stepped up to speak about the new space.
“Serving a population as diverse and as busy as our Athens population is a great challenge and we are now able to do that even better than we were before,” he said. “We have a beautiful centralized facility designed for their use. It means a great deal to us at the library that our ability to serve our population is so much greater than it was.”
