Adrenalin-filled shouts bellowed through the Student Commons on Thursday night as students raced against each other in CAB’s first annual Mario Kart 8 Tournament. Similar to CAB’s reoccurring Super Smash Bros. tournament, contestants were randomly pitted against each other, only two players emerging victorious from each round. After nearly three hours of racing, the final champions were placed. Tied for third place were Nathan Blackburn and Lei Ward, who raced as Isabelle and Link, respectively. In second place was Kadence Cole, who put up a valiant fight with Daisy. Finally, in first place was Scott Eckard, who raced as Shy Guy. For his victory, Eckard took home a remote-controlled Mario Kart replica.
