Have you heard that technology is taking over our lives? You haven’t? Great. Let me give you an awesome piece of advice. Electronic books are so much better than paper books. Why? Well, let me tell you.
Electronic books, or e-books, are definitely cheaper than paper books. While paper book prices range from $13.00 to $15.00, an e-book’s average price ranges from $1.00 to $6.00. Even electronic textbooks (e-text books) are cheaper than an actual text book. I don’t know about you, but as a college student, I would prefer getting the cheap, electronic version rather than the expensive one. Also, if there is a book that you’re interested in, but are still not sure if you should get it or not, then don’t worry. You can purchase a part of the e-book and save some money.
Also, when you are studying, it is a lot easier if you have an e-text book. Why? Well, in an e-text book, you can search for key words that lead you right to where you need to be.
On top of that, you can write notes without having them crammed in the margins. Plus, if there is a note that you don’t need, you can just erase it, even if it’s highlighted.
Have you ever been studying, but came across a word that you have never seen? Well, in an e-book or e-text book, you can search that word easily. Either you can highlight the word or click on it to find the meaning. I don’t think a paper book can do that.
When you buy a book, how many pages are in it? A young adult novel typically has around 400 pages, and a young teen book has about 200 pages. Don’t you think that takes too many trees? Well, an e-book does not use any pages at all, so no trees are killed in the process of making them.
A hard book that is around 460 pages long weighs an average of about 18 ounces. That is roughly the weight of about 90 quarters. So, a book can be heavy and take up space. Why would you want that nuisance? An e-book can be read on almost any electronic device.
An e-book can be read on a phone, tablet, e-reader, laptop, desktopand even on your TV. Not to mention that you can store several books and still have the same weight. Also, the e-book will generally save its place where you leave off, so do not worry about losing your place.
Also an e-book does not take the same space that a paper book would take. Oh, by the way, did I mention that various e-books have applications that will read to you? You can listen to your e-book as you drive, exercise, cook, clean or even work.
The best part about e-books is that you can buy them at any time and any place. You could be in your pajamas, on the toilet or even in a different country and still be able to purchase any book.
Plus, as soon as you purchase the book, you get access to it. So, in my opinion e-books are the best option for our modern generation.
