Footsteps echoed throughout Piedmont’s chapel the evening of Tues., Nov. 3, as guests filled in the pews, waiting for senior music education major Kate Berardi to begin her senior recital.
“It was less scary than I thought it was going to be,” said Berardi.
Berardi said that she had been working on the music that she performed that evening since the beginning of her junior year.
Berardi’s voice carried throughout the chapel, singing the works of a variety of composers in various languages. However, she did not choose this selection of songs.
She explained that for music majors’ capstone recitals, the professors select the students’ music.
Berardi plans to continue her education at Piedmont next year to obtain a master’s degree in education. After she completes that degree, she hopes to teach music to elementary school students.
However, right now, she said she is simply happy to have completed this milestone in her education.
“It’s like the biggest weight ever off my shoulders,” said Berardi.
