For all Piedmont University students, class registration marks the moment when students start to look ahead and plan for the future semester. Each semester, students line up their schedules as they prepare for another round of classes. Whether you are a freshman registering for your first semester or a senior finalizing your final year, understanding registration is essential.
Before registering, all students must accept the Student Financial Agreement through their online portal. This step confirms awareness of tuition policies and is required before any registration actions can occur. Students must also schedule a meeting with their academic advisor to discuss course selections and obtain approval for the classes they want to take.
Once the advisor approves the schedule, they remove the advising hold that temporarily blocks registration.
Registration officially opens for the spring semester on Oct. 20 for graduate students, Oct. 21 for seniors, Oct. 22 for juniors and Oct. 26 for freshmen. Acting early is essential. The sooner you register, the more likely you’ll secure the class that works best for you.
While registration might seem easy, small mistakes can cause issues. For example, failing to clear a financial or advising hold or waiting until the last minute can all result in delays or lost
spots in classes. The Registrar’s Office strongly recommends checking to ensure students are clear on holds and confirming class times before finalizing a schedule.
To make the process easier, keep backup options ready in case the first pick fills up. Communication is essential, especially for juniors and seniors balancing major requirements, internships and electives.
Registering for classes is an integral part of academic success. A well-planned schedule helps students stay on track to graduate and start each semester feeling confident and ready.
