Every new release of Taylor Swift’s albums always has underlying messages and hidden easter eggs for fans to look forward to. Swift has posted Instagram photos to display different outfits on tour, and has now released her newest album. She has left fans excited to have another album released, titled “The Life of a Showgirl.”
When Swift was writing the album, she was on the Eras Tour. She had worked on the album for the entire time and then released it on the podcast, “New Heights.”
“I’d do three shows in a row. I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour and actually like working on this. I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour. Still, I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating,” said Swift in an interview with ELLE about writing her album.
It was like she was living the actual life of a showgirl, being on tour and writing songs for her fans. The album features joyful, uplifting melodies that showcase the excitement that comes from taking the time to write them artistically.
It’s a complete change from her previous album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” From slow and calm as the songs were in that album, to a more eccentric feel in her new album. Her life has undergone drastic changes over the past year.
The top two played songs in the album are currently “The Fate of Ophelia” and “The Life of a Showgirl,” featuring Sabrina Carpenter in the latter.
“The Fate of Ophelia” is interesting but very pop at the same time. This song counters all the hate she had for picking the right songs for singles, and this one is a hit. There is also a music video available for the song, which adds to its individuality.
“The Life of a Showgirl” song embodies the essence of a girl boss. With Sabrina Carpenter singing along with Swift, their voices fit very well together. They both share the actual “Life of a Showgirl” while being able to sing it well.
“The Life of a Showgirl,” overall, is a happy and fun album from Swift. Swift definitely had fun writing this album, with its diverse lyrics and catchy song titles. It is an entirely different album from her previous one, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was darker than “The Life of a Showgirl.” I think it’s also a reflection on her life now, and it’s good to see that she is having fun as a writer and a performer.
