As the 2024–2025 school year comes to a close, so does the first year for many new professors, but one who truly stood out was Kevin Freeman.
Freeman teaches in the graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Piedmont. “My teaching responsibilities include a wide range of courses, including Theories of Counseling, Psychopathology and Diagnosis, Ethical, Legal, and Professional Issues in Counseling, Addictions and Substance Use Counseling, Assessment and Testing, and Crisis, Trauma and Emergency Intervention, among others,” said Freeman.
Despite Freeman’s busy schedule, he has played a key role in supporting his students and helping the program grow. “I was especially proud to see our inaugural cohort graduate in December 2024, which was a significant milestone for both the students and the program,” he said.
During his time at Piedmont, Freeman has truly enjoyed watching the program flourish. Many of the students are engaging and passionate about the counseling field. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey and to support their professional development,” said Freeman.
Freeman first joined Piedmont as an adjunct faculty in Aug. 2022. He was very enthusiastic about taking on new challenges, building a deeper connection with students and contributing to ongoing growth and the development of the counseling program.
“Over the next five years, I hope to continue contributing to the growth of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program,” said Freeman. “My goals include strengthening the curriculum, supporting students’ academic and clinical development and helping the program gain full accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.”
Freeman is also passionate about expanding opportunities for student research, faculty and student presentations and promoting innovative clinical training experiences.
As the clinical mental health program grows so does the love to create a reputation and more opportunities for Freeman’s students. Freeman hopes his students leave Piedmont fully prepared for success in their future careers.
Piedmont University has fostered an enviroment where students and faculty can grow, create long lasting relationships and make an impact. Freeman is proud to be part of Piedmont and is ready to see what lies ahead for him and his students.
