2025 has been a whirlwind year for Piedmont University, marked by significant achievements across academics, the arts and sports. Despite the ups and downs, the university continues to excel in various areas, showcasing its collective success.
Academics:
For the mathematics department, we had accomplishments from both students and faculty.
Piedmont’s computer programming team, our ‘programming athletes’, finished 13 out of 22 at the consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Southeast (CCSC:SE) Conference in November. Camryn Oddo, Rohan Kavali, Lennox Wilson and Alex Pangelinan represented Piedmont well.
As for the professors, Dr. Torrance was awarded the Reader’s Choice 2025 Best College Professor by the Northeast Georgian newspaper.
Arts:
For the theatre department, accomplishments included a record number of attendees this year for “9 to 5: The Musical.” 941 people saw the production, making it a smash hit.
As for the seniors, Hunter Reum successfully presented his capstone, “In Defense of The Laramie Project,” last fall and has accepted a year-long internship in education and directing with The Naples Players in Naples, Fla.
Gracie Tipton will present her Theatre in Education portfolio as her capstone project in May 2025. Tipton received an offer to teach theatre full-time at a high school in Northeast Georgia.
Clayton Maddox will present his capstone, “Technical Direction for 9 to 5: The Musical,” in May 2025. Maddox has received several job offers after attending the SETC job fair in March 2025.
Tyler Pellegrino will present his capstone, “Lighting Design for 9 to 5, The Musical,” in May 2025. Pellegrino has also received several job offers after attending the SETC job fair in March 2025.
