1. Softball
The pinstripe-style uniform originates from Major League Baseball almost 150 years ago. To this day it looks good on a uniform, especially Piedmont’s. The grey-green accented by the bright gold gives the letters a perfect highlight. To top off the best women’s sports uniform is the cursive “Lions” on the front.
2. Tennis All-White
All-white uniforms are perfect for teams who do not have to worry about grass stains. The tennis team’s white uniforms feature a bright, pearly white with the perfect Piedmont font and a green outline around it adding a green Nike logo on the left shoulder.
3. Basketball All-Black
All-black uniforms are the perfect way to be flashy in a subtle way. The basketball travel uniforms utilized the black perfectly using white stripes and green accents without overdoing it. As seen in the picture, these uniforms were featured in this year’s NCAA Tournament by the Lions.
4. Volleyball All-Black
Similarly to the basketball black uniforms, volleyball’s all-black uniforms have a green number outlined in white. What puts volleyball’s uniforms below basketball’s is the lack of extra details. The idea of minimal extra details on the uniform is great but these could use a “Lions” or “Piedmont” across the chest.
5. Basketball All-White
The home uniforms for the basketball team make the list as well. These uniforms are like flipping an iPhone into light mode as the scheme is almost identical. The jerseys keep the same stripes but in green and feature the iconic “Piedmont” lettering. Another unique piece to these are how much the logo sticks out on the shorts to add some detail and Piedmont pride.
6. Soccer’s Home Uniforms
These uniforms get a boost because of the goalies’ uniforms being black. The white uniform concept was underutilized by a basic font and green lettering. The symmetry of the uniform is also thrown off by the Nike swoosh on the right shoulder and left leg.
7. Track and Field
It is hard to do a lot with track and field uniforms and the teams who do try to add too many details mess it up. Piedmont’s track team has a good green-on-white concept with the school’s name accented in white. Most track uniforms get covered by the lane stickers anyway.
8. Women’s Lacrosse Home
The lacrosse uniforms are a common lacrosse style for a home team. White on a solid color comes pretty standard. They look great up close as the greens in the bottoms and the jersey accent have a little bit of reflection off the light. From afar, the jersey green looks a little bit darker making it look a little mismatched.
9. Golf
The golf uniforms have the right mix of sporty and classy. Golf is a tough sport to design uniforms for because the more modern they look, the more they move away from the classic, dressed up, golf look. The grey on white keeps the look plain adding some color with the green hat featuring the Piedmont “P”.
10. Swimming
The swim team wearing black instead of trying to pull off green is the right move. Without jersey numbers, it is difficult to find accents and details to add to their suits. The lion logo is placed low on the suit which looks a little bit awkward but works with the size of the logo.
