Piedmont men’s sports rock the green-and-white well. Some teams have a slight edge in the uniform department, however. Here’s a quick (opinionated) ranking of all the men’s uniforms.
- Baseball
America’s pastime is known for jersey variety. For the Lions, there are four amazing jerseys to choose from – A clean all-white pinstriped jersey, a classic dark green with gold lettering, an additional black jersey to go with the white pinstriped pants and even the Sunday gold jerseys. All of these combine for the best combination at Piedmont and have a case for the best in the CCS. There’s no question that baseball takes the title of best men’s uniform.
- Lacrosse
In the middle of the 2024 season, men’s lacrosse walked out at home with a metallic green helmet. They demand attention – and show how clean the lacrosse uniforms truly are. The home whites usually have a white helmet to pair with, but the addition of a green helmet adds to the fun. The alternate and road jerseys are not on par with the home ones, as there are green and gold jerseys respectively, but lacrosse deserves the runner-up spot for their uniforms.
- Soccer
Soccer’s kits are tremendous. The classic all-white kits and dark green ones contrast perfectly with any turf. However, the polarizing black-and-green kit is controversial. On one hand, it’s a unique addition to Piedmont’s usual soccer swagger, while on the other hand, the dark-colored stripes on a black jersey might be a bit odd. The dominance of the basic kits still makes soccer deserve the third-best men’s jerseys for Piedmont.
- Track and Field/Cross Country
Both uniforms are the same and are similar to basketball in that they are simple. The only reason why the track and field/cross country uniforms beat out the basketball ones is the alternate grays of basketball. The dark green for these jerseys is a one-trick pony, but it works well.
- Basketball
This is a shock to some people – however, basketball uniforms are simply too basic. The simplicity makes them look extremely clean on the hardwood, but there is not enough going on for them to make a higher spot. The home white uniforms paired with the away greens are very solid, but the alternate grays are a bit questionable.
6: Cycling
Cycling’s jersey kit is a “this is good, but there is better out there” situation. The lion logo on the quad area is a great addition, and the white and green pops as usual. Much to cycling’s disadvantage, there are better uniforms on other teams.
