Piedmont University will host its 7th annual Symposium. This year’s symposium will take place on April 10. Undergraduate students at Piedmont University will explore ideas, research and projects across various fields throughout their studies. This event brings together students from Athens and Demorest campuses, community leaders and locals.
“I look forward to presenting the research I have worked on with my group,” said sophomore biology major Reid Barnes whose research topic is Changes in Flight Patterns of Brantis Canadensis due to Climate Change. “ I am excited to learn new information from my peers. This is an exciting event where others showcase their work, which is very interesting.”
Anyone in any major can be part of this event and have the opportunity to show off their work. This event contributes to conversations that shape the future of education and highlights the connections between academics, the community and real-world applications.
“I look forward to presenting my work to my friends and other students and faculty of Piedmont University,” said senior biology major Erick Fortner. “I have put a lot of time and effort into my research. I am happy I can show what I have worked on.”
Fortner’s research topic is Differences in Larval Microhabitats between two Cryptic, Sympatric Salamander Species (Desmognathus folkertsi and D. amphileucus) in Northeastern Georgia.
Classes are excused on April 11, allowing students to participate in and view presentations throughout the day.
