Piedmont University’s theatre department is getting ready for their upcoming show, “9 to 5.” The show highlights the importance of womanhood and how women worked hard in the 1980’s. They will be performing from Feb. 13-16 with each show starting at 7:30 p.m.
Piedmont University theatre student Jenna Meinberg says, “‘9 to 5’ is about 3 women, Violet, Judy and Doralee in the 70’s working at Consolidated Industries under Franklin Hart. It’s a comedy that celebrates womanhood and sticking up for what’s right.” The show’s music was written by Dolly Parton, giving it that old-country vibe.
The casting list was announced on Oct. 17 revealing the lead roles starring Gracie Tipton, Haylie Collins, Dakota Rose Chen, and Gabe Richman. The cast is excited to do this show since it’s very fun and was an adaptation of the movie which Dolly Parton starred in the 1980’s.
Tickets for the show start at 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for children while students, seniors and staff at Piedmont are able to watch the show for free. You can go to the box office at the Swanson Center or go to the website show pass to purchase tickets. Come support the Piedmont Theatre and enjoy the musical!
