TikTok needs to stay for fans who have been using the app since 2016. It has since then gained many followers, and now people have used TikTok for influencer purposes or to have fun with the app. The app has been a fun way for people to be able to communicate and express their creativity, so why take that all away and replace it with Instagram Reels?
With TikTok, people love being able to repost videos for their friends to be able to look at instead of sending them through a message. With Instagram Reels, you can’t repost videos, you can only send them direct messages on Instagram. With that, it loses the creativity of your friends being able to view your videos without having to open the message.
Another thing about Instagram Reels is that their algorithm fails to give you specific videos that fit your needs or that you want to see. TikTok, however, has maintained an algorithm to fit your needs. That is what keeps you continuing to swipe to the next video. Then you are lasting a long time on TikTok watching multiple of your favorite videos.
A student at Piedmont University, Chloe Wenzel, has over 88 hours on average on Tiktok weekly. Chloe said, “I believe that Tiktok does a better job of finding the algorithm that you will enjoy the most. Instagram has dark humor, and the Tiktok comments and creators have always seemed more inclusive”. Chloe also feels that TikTok is another way to connect with other people through videos and messaging people. She also loves Tiktok’s algorithm and how it can connect her with her favorite videos.
TikTok’s removal would require users to use competitor, Instagram Reels. Without TikTok, how are we supposed to connect with others through funny videos or other videos we find online? It would be a shame to have to see Tiktok go, and hopefully, for my sake, Tiktok will stay for good.
