It’s time for cheer; the holidays are here! With the holiday season in full swing there are plenty of ways to celebrate the around Piedmont’s campus. To kick off the holiday season C.A.B. hosted an event inviting Piedmont students to decorate the tree in front of the commons. Strung with lights and garland and dotted with ornaments the tree is now perfectly decorated for the season! All that’s left it to light it!
Tree & Menorah Lighting
Speaking of lighting the tree… on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. C.A.B. is hosting the tree and menorah lighting outside of the commons. You can show up expecting to hear the story of the menorah and Christmas accompanied by the beautiful singing of Christmas carols by Piedmont’s singers.
Late Night Breakfast
To kick off the start of finals Piedmont’s student life hosts Late Night Breakfast, a tradition that many students love and look forward to every semester. Starting at 8 p.m. in the Piedmont dining hall Piedmont faculty and staff will serve breakfast favorites to students. Show up wearing your best holiday attire, whether that be pajamas or an ugly Christmas sweater for the chance to win a prize!
Habersham Christmas Parade
Just in time for finals, the city of Habersham is hosting a Christmas parade! Check out the food and shopping scene in downtown Cornelia on Thursday, Dec. 5. The event is free to attend and will feature themed floats and a special appearance from the man of the hour himself, Santa! The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on North Main Street in Cornelia with the parade itself starting at 6 p.m.
Parade of Lights
Also taking place on Thursday, Dec. 5 is Athens-Clarke County’s Downtown Parade of Lights! The theme of this year’s parade is “Run, Run Rudolph.” The parade will make its way though downtown Athens, staring at the intersection of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street. The parade route can be found at https://www.accgov.com/parade. A highlight of the parade is the lighting of the Christmas tree by Santa himself at the conclusion of the parade. Filled with sparkling lights and dazzling floats this event is not one to miss!
Christmas Lights as A.H. Stephens
Starting the weekend after Thanksgiving you can see Christmas light displays every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 22 at A.H. Stephens State Park, located in Crawfordville, GA. Tour 10 acres of lighting displays while enjoying refreshments, Christmas movies, and weather permitting a campfire. Admission is free, but parking is $5.
Stone Mountain Christmas
Light up your holiday season with a trip to Stone Mountain. From Nov. 9 to Jan. 5 the holidays are in full swing. You can start the day exploring the parks many attractions and end the night with the Christmas drone and light show! This year Stone Mountain has introduced a new attraction: a Magical Flight to the North Pole. Each night you can take flight through the Northern Lights and travel to Santa’s workshop. Each night there is also the opportunity to catch Santa’s big flight as he lights the Christmas tree. With over two million shining lights, dozens of spirit filled shows, and visits from your favorite holiday characters this it not an event to miss. Christmas in the Pines – Lighted Walking Trail
Every weekend after Thanksgiving until Dec. 21, from dusk till 9 p.m. spend the evening at Georgia Veterans State Park & Resort. Every Friday and Saturday you can walk the lighted trail for $10 a person. The beautiful half mile trail decorated with lights and Christmas scenes is an amazing way to spread some holiday cheer with the family!
