The Community Lions Club, an organization founded on the principles of ethics, friendship and service, makes an effort to connect the campus to the community through acts of service. They aim to communicate with the surrounding area to strengthen relationships and create lifelong ties. Using one step at a time, the club aims to assist Piedmont’s mission to enhance and help the local and global community.
On Oct. 2, the Community Lions Club volunteered at the Habersham Animal Shelter. They spent the day cleaning cages, feeding the animals and providing companionship to the pets. The volunteers were delighted with the day’s work and felt they made a difference.
The shelter was thankful for the volunteers’ help, and the volunteers felt a sense of satisfaction in helping the animals. The shelter provided the animals with a safe and clean environment. The volunteers were able to positively impact the lives of the animals.
“I enjoyed playing with the cats,” said Allie Watkins, a member of the Community Lions Club. “I wanted to adopt one, but unfortunately, I was unable to do so.”
The Community Lions Club posts its events on the Piedmont app, allowing students to participate.
The Community Lions Club will branch out and participate in other volunteer events in the future. The club is always looking for new members. To those who are interested in joining or learning more about the club, contact Matthew Teutsch, adviser to the Community Lions Club, at [email protected].
