The Six Flags amusement parks celebrate Halloween by decorating their walkways and opening Fright Fest every year. Fright Fest is a series of haunted mazes that use scare actors to frighten guests. This year’s Fright Fest, sponsored by Snickers, celebrates thirty years of entertainment by introducing a roster of 15 haunted attractions, including a collaboration with the popular Netflix show “Stranger Things.”
“Stranger Things” is a Netflix original series created by the Duffer Brothers. “Stranger Things” is set in the 1980s. The series surrounds a group of teenagers who reside in a fictional town named Hawkins, Indiana. The teenagers are tormented by creatures from an alternate dimension called the Upside Down when a gateway opens from Earth.
This partnership will include a “Stranger Things”–themed maze, which will take guests through a variety of horrific yet entertaining moments that take place within the show. Guests who proceed through this maze will have the opportunity to lurk throughout the maze, slowly descending Hawkins into the Upside Down, where they will encounter monsters like The Demogorgon and Vecna, two predatory creatures that make up a part of the Upside Down’s hive mind.
This addition to Fright Fest was announced on August 17th of this year. This event has left many “Stranger Things” and Six Flags fans excited. Ollie Smith, a sophomore film production student at Piedmont, said, “I think that ‘Stranger Things’ partnering with Six Flags is cool. It makes sense considering ‘Stranger Things’ films in Atlanta.”
To experience this maze, all guests will need to have the Haunted Attractions Pass, which has prices starting at $65 per day. Guests ages 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old in order to be admitted into the parks. Guests 16 and older may be asked to present a valid government-issued ID.
