The fourteenth edition of World College Radio Day took place on Friday, Oct. 4, and featured 12 different student shows across 12 hours on 98.7 FM Roar Radio, the student voice of Piedmont University.
World College Radio Day has been a yearly celebration of students and the art of radio since 2011. Piedmont first participated in this program in 2016.
Shows today ranged from manager takeovers, Radio 1 students learning the ropes, celebrity news and music from across the decades. Dr. Joe Dennis and Dr. Dale Van Cantfort, who the radio station is named after, guided and assisted the shows.
Sophie Haines, the senior radio station manager, fulfilled an application for the station to be a part of World College Radio Day. Haines also built the schedule for the day and monitored the station.
When asked about the day, Haines stated, “I am very proud of how the students shared their voices and talents to contribute to World College Radio Day.”
The celebration is not reserved only for Mass Communication students. If you want to participate in next year’s edition on October 3, look out for an announcement next fall for potential openings!
