Piedmont University will host its 15th annual Pride Walk, an event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community on campus. The walk will start at the Commons welcome desk at 5:45 p.m. and participants will proceed to the Quad for festivities including crafts, giveaways, refreshments and more.
This annual event is important to students and staff alike. Piedmont student Ans Robinson, who attended last year’s walk said of the event: “It was a very fun way for students in the LGBT community to come together and have a sense of community…it can be very lonely and it’s important to showcase who you are.”
“We need to celebrate everybody…diversity is very important on this campus. We want everyone to be included, to celebrate everyone’s unique individuality,” says Cat Wiles, director of student life.
The Pride Walk is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, but multiple clubs and organizations will participate. Organizations interested in having a booth can contact Wiles at [email protected]. Individuals are encouraged to join the walk, and pride flags and signs are welcome.
