Editor-in-Chief of the Northeast Georgian, Matthew Osborne, unexpectedly passed away on Aug. 14, 2024.
Osborne took charge of the Northeast Georgian in late 2019, and has been a large supporter of Piedmont University and Piedmont students since his hiring. He covered hundreds of events around Demorest and the greater area of Habersham County.
Osborne gave many opportunities to Piedmont students, allowing them to freelance articles and provide real-world journalistic experience for the Northeast Georgian. On top of that, Osborne hired multiple Piedmont graduates full-time, including 2022 graduates John Dills and Emma Marti as reporters.
