The highly anticipated event of the year has occurred and no, I am not talking about the Super Bowl.
However, some could describe the Love Island reunion as their own summer Super Bowl with watch parties filled with themed appetizers, yelling at the TV, and live tweeting their opinions.
Love Island is a dating show that started in the UK which took the country by storm. Because of the popularity, many other countries have created their own Love Island such as Australia, France, and even the United States.
However, this last season has taken the world by storm. The first episode introduces us to 10 islanders: Hannah, JaNa, Kaylor, Leah, Serena, Aaron, Coye, Kendall, Kordell, and Rob. Throughout the episodes, new islanders are added while other members are kicked off the island.
The last episode reveals the winners of Love Island, and these were the results: Nicole and Kendall won 4th place, JaNa and Kenny won 3rd place, Leah and Miguel won 2nd place and the winners of Love Island, Serena and Kordell.
Here’s what you need to know about the reunion. Couple Nicole and Kendall, who received 4th place, reveal that the reunion was their first time talking to each other since leaving the villa. Nicole begins to attack Kendall for a leaked video that came out while they were in the villa, causing everyone to come to Kendall’s defense. This, in turn, results in Nicole crying and wishing that everyone could see from her point of view. The focus was then shifted to Andrea, who came into the villa as a bombshell. Andrea’s dramatic entrance ultimately led to the uncoupling of worlds favorite couple Leah and Rob. This, of course, left viewers heartbroken. The ultimate drama, however, came when the girls decided to vote Andrea off the island, leaving Rob without a girl. Andrea then took it upon herself to make a TikTok live about her experience, and continuously bashed the female islanders from the way they acted to even how they look. This was brought up in the reunion which caused Leah to call Andrea out for constantly talking bad about her on the internet. JaNa came to Leah’s rescue by whipping out pieces of paper that included comments other islanders had made and when they made them. The final blow up of the evening came from the longest lasting couple in the villa, Kaylor and Aaron.
Kaylor and Aaron’s troubles first began during the Casa Amor sequence. Aaron used his newly found freedom in Casa to his advantage, as he cheated on Kaylor the entire week he was there. It got even worse when Aaron came back to the villa. Aaron constantly lied to Kaylor about what really went down in Casa Amor. So much so that Kaylor truly didn’t find out what happened until after leaving Love Island, where she was able to watch the episodes back in full time. This ultimately led to the couple breaking up and having it out on the reunion. Kaylor calls Aaron out on his lying, and even how he was keeping secrets which he started revealing on the reunion. The reunion ends on a dramatic note with the audience finally being able to watch the entire unedited version of the girls voting Andrea off the island. Ultimately, the reunion answered many people’s questions, while leaving tons unanswered as well.
I say the reunion was overhyped. There were too many questions that were never asked and gave screen time to people who were irrelevant. Avid Love Island watcher, Bryn White had this to say about the reunion: “I liked that my favorite people, Serena, Leah, and JaNa, had their opportunity to say what they needed to say about the people that were trashing them outside of the villa. But I do wish that the reunion was longer and that they asked more and better questions then what they did.”
