Heartstring-pulling social justice play, “The Laramie Project” will be performed at Piedmont University Theatre’s Black Box.
“We are doing this show for many reasons, but one is to celebrate the social justice framework that inspired Lillian E. Smith’s work as a novelist, writer and playwright,” said Bill Gabelhausen. Gabelhausen will be directing this show along with Hunter Reum as his assistant director.
Auditions were held August 15th, and the casting list was announced August 22nd. There will be some familiar faces, but there will also be freshmen making their debut on the Piedmont stage: Mandy Baker, Shelby Armentrout, Parker Skillen and Willow Cannon. These fresh faces are an exciting addition to the department. The first rehearsal was August 25th, and the cast and crew have been working diligently ever since.
The Laramie Project will be performed from Oct. 3rd-6th, Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Black Box. Reserve your spot by going to the box office at Swanson Center, call 706-778-8500 x1355 or visit https://www.showpass.com/the-laramie-project-2/ at any time to purchase tickets. Tickets for the Piedmont faculty, staff, and students are free, while community tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children & seniors. So, save your seat for the upcoming show.
