The shuttle services at Piedmont University have yet to make a complete comeback outside of the spring formal.
“Not only do we already pay a good $1,000 plus for transportation fees while attending this university, but it is also money that should not be charged if it does not help students with transportation,” said Nathen Kuntz, a student at Piedmont University. “We have an entire fleet of cars that sit there that will never be used.”
Spring of 2022 was the last time the shuttle ran at full service. Typically, the bus is a form of transportation for students who need a ride around campus. Bus drivers also offer to take students to Walmart.
Not every student on campus has a form of transportation or a peer to ask for a ride. Shuttle services disappeared from campus almost two years ago.
Nathan Kuntz said, “Many people do not have a car and have no way to do basic things like get groceries. I recently had to walk four miles in a round trip to Walmart to get essentials like toothpaste and toilet paper and walk back with groceries.”
As Campus Police enforces a new rule prohibiting students residing in Wallace, Ipswich, Swanson, Johnson, Purcell, and Mayflower from parking in main campus areas, students wonder if Piedmont’s shuttle service will ever return.
