Piedmont University has grown in the number of faculty, staff and students. Even with the growth and changes, some things remain the same, like professor’s dedication to the university. We have 21 professors who have put in 15 or more years of dedication at Piedmont.
Here are the 21 fantastic individuals who have taught generations of students here at Piedmont:
Dr. Al Pleysier, Dr. Carlos Camp, Dr. Windy Charles, Dr. Shahryar Heydari, Ms. Kim Lovell, Dr. Cynthia Vance, Dr. Stephen Whited, Dr. Janice Moss, Dr. Tim Lytle, Dr. Debra Dooley, Dr. Angela Brown, Dr. Sean Carrigan, Dr. Dale Van Cantfort, Dr. Stephen Carlson, Mr. William “Bill” Gabelhausen, Dr. Hugh Davis, Dr. Tony Frye, Mr. Chris Kelly, Dr. Andrea Price, Dr. Steve Nimmo and Mr. John Spiegel.
Not only are we highlighting these wonderful professors, but we had a chance to talk with a couple of them about their time here.
Bill Gabelhausen, Director of Theatrical Productions and Theatre professor, said that what keeps him here at Piedmont can be summed up in two words, “the students”.
“Whether it is witnessing their growth in a class or during a 4-year journey, I love working with the theater students on a daily basis,” said Gabelhausen. “Couple this with watching the students create living art and I have my dream job.”
Bill has been teaching at Piedmont for 18 years, beginning in the 2006-2007 school year.
Dr. Dale Van Cantfort has been at Piedmont since the fall of 2002 and will be semi-retiring at the end of this year. He will be returning to Piedmont part-time to continue teaching Advertising and Communications, Communications Law and Ethics and the Mass Communications capstone class, Advanced Studies in Mass Media.
Dr. Van Cantfort echoed similar praises toward students as Bill Gabelhausen saying, “I enjoy the interaction with the students, seeing them progress, seeing them develop and go on to develop careers in the industry once they finish their degree at Piedmont.”
Dr. Van Cantfort went on to mention his relationship with, not only students, but faculty as well.
“My favorite part about teaching here is the relationships I have built both with faculty and with the students. [The] relationships that go way past the classroom.”
We want to say a big congratulations and thank you to these professors for the dedication at Piedmont. If you see any of these 21 professors around campus, be sure to praise them for their work and ask them their favorite memory at Piedmont!
