You’re sleeping so peacefully in your bed, trying to get some rest before your classes start. Then you hear a loud buzzing sound, and you think you’re dreaming about bees, but it gets louder and louder. It’s just Shook’s doing their daily work.
Shook’s is a landscaping, maintenance, and irrigation company that helps take care of the landscape here at Piedmont. They aim to provide the best service they can offer, including a wide variety of design and installation services, while employing techniques in landscape management. They strive to demonstrate that quality and experience can make a difference.
Shook’s commitment is, “From weekly maintenance to complete renovations, you’ll discover that Shook’s executes every task neatly, efficiently, and with limited disruption,” according to their website.
That is some false information if I say so myself. Whenever students walk around campus, they walk on the cut grass that wasn’t picked up. They see the workers in the trucks on their phones and have no care in the world. Plus, the grass looks the same each week: long and overgrown. That’s neat and efficient?
Shook’s apparently executes limited disruption. Well, most students do not get enough sleep and have to wake up before their alarm clocks go off.
“I just want some sleep, but I wake up one hour before my alarm,” said junior accounting major Zane Smith. “Those lawnmowers wake me up, and I can’t go back to sleep. I just wanted some rest before classes or big exams that are coming up.”
“Shook’s needs to start in the midday, not at the crack of dawn,” said junior accounting major Kyle Rutberg. “It has to stop. Either do it when everyone is awake or don’t do it at all.”
More and more students have complaints about this issue, but they have no control over it. I think the most respectable choice is for Shook’s to come around 12 p.m. and continue their work until the sun is about to go down. Plus, what is the point of coming every week? It’s their time, and they are wasting the school’s money on some useless work.
Overall, Shook’s need to commit to their goals and values instead of coming every day and working on the same spot of grass.
