Piedmont’s marketing team is pushing a new campaign that is turning heads all over the campus. Leo the Lion, Piedmont’s lovable mascot, is now the face of students’ bath products! Piedmont’s campaign includes shampoo and conditioner, body scrub and more!
“We’ve been trying to implement Piedmont’s secondary and tertiary colors,” says Director of Marketing Zack Hoopaugh. “The bottles from ‘Leo’s Mane Shampoo’ feature more of these bright colors, showing how ‘Leo’s Mane Shampoo’ will leave your hair shiny and bright!”
Piedmont Undergrad Admissions has taken a particular interest in this campaign, including the Leo products in all freshmen bathrooms when they move in.
“The bottle designs are so cute and they really help familiarize Piedmont’s most iconic figure to the freshmen,” says undergrad admissions advisor Karis Fowler. “I personally have a couple of Leo bottles at home. I love the quality of the product!”
You might be wondering where Piedmont developed a formula for these products. The answer lies in Piedmont’s Chemistry department. Through a very advanced mixture of ingredients all supporting the growth and strengthening of hair and skin.
“It’s a simple combination of basic ingredients like aloe and honey,” says Dr. Elaine Bailey, Associate Professor and Chemistry, Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences and Associate Dean of Mathematical and Natural Sciences. “We also use **** in our toothpaste, but that’s classified, so don’t tell anyone. The list of our ingredients is longer than my official title here!”
While the products themselves are grabbing attention, the most popular product being purchased so far is “Leo the Lufa”. Chartwell’s Heth Cotrell was so excited he helped plan a tagline for the product. Every tagline is lion-themed, paying homage to Disney’s The Lion King as well as Leo the Lion.
“‘Scarred by the stress of classes? Try Leo the Lufa to turn your ‘Grrr’ into ‘Raaaar’,” says Cotrell. “That’s my favorite one that I’ve come up with so far. I also like ‘NANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BA-BATH’. Seriously, Marketing should just hire me for this stuff.”
If you want to buy your own Leo-the-Lion-branded bath products, you can buy them from the Piedmont Bookstore’s website. It comes with terms and conditions to agree to that all possible side effects are not at the fault of Piedmont University.
