Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball team had an unforgettable season, but they were not able to bring home a Collegiate Conference of the South championship.
This past season, the Lions went 16-11 on the year and 6-6 in the conference. The team won their quarterfinal game vs Berea College, but they lost the semifinal to Belhaven University.
“This season was amazing,” said senior Noah Reardon. “We had the best start in Piedmont history and ended up having a program record of 16 wins. We ended up finishing third in the CCS standings with an overtime heartbreaker versus Belhaven. I had an amazing four years playing with coach Neely and coach Cavin, I can’t wait to see how well they do in the future.”
Noah Reardon had a season-high in points with 24 points against LaGrange. He averaged over 13.5 points a game. Reardon has been a great addition to the Piedmont University’s men’s basketball team during his time at Piedmont.
Men’s basketball will be back in business for the 2024-2025 season this upcoming winter.
Women’s Basketball
The Lady Lions basketball team should be proud of another unbelievable season.
The women’s basketball team’s final record was 15-10 and 10-6 in conference. The Lady Lions made it to the quarterfinal vs Belhaven University but would lose in double-overtime.
“This year was shorter than expected, but I think we learned the importance of fighting and never giving up. In our final game, we went into overtime not only once, but twice, so I think that showed our heart as a team,” said senior Lu Woolfolk.
Woolfolk played a big role for the Lady Lions this season, where she scored a career-high 16 points in a 67-61 win vs Berry College.
Freshman Alex Willis also played a big role for the Lions. She had a career-high 22 points vs Belhaven University, and was named Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Year for the 2023-2024 season.
The Lady Lions basketball team will pick back up for the 2024-2025 season in the winter of this year. Keep up to date with Piedmont basketball and Piedmont athletics at piedmontlions.com.
