Clint Coker is a Demorest native who loves playing bluegrass music for local residents with his band, Jeff Parker & Company.
“I got my first guitar when I was 10 years old,” said Coker. “It was fun learning how to play the guitar and I always loved listening to music, but the cool part to me was learning how the guitar sounded like the songs that I grew up listening to.”
Coker is able to give local people in the community opportunities to experience learning to play guitar as he did. He does this by offering guitar lessons for anyone who wants to learn how to play the guitar.
“I had a neighbor who was a really good musician, and he would have people at his house all the time and have big jams,” said Coker on how he got interested in the music industry. “My dad would take me over there to listen to them so it gave me the courage to practice more at home.”
On Nov. 26, 2023 Coker would get the chance of a lifetime to play at the Grand Ole Opry with a bluegrass group, Dailey and Vincent.
“I had a mutual friend that knew Dailey and Vincent, and they needed a guitar player for the show,” said Coker. “They called and asked me to play, and I said yes”
In preparation for the big day, Coker said how he was nervous because he had only practiced with Dailey and Vincent. Days before playing on the mainstage, Coker’s nerves were eased due to consistent practicing with the band.
Coker grew up watching some of the greatest country musicians of all-time. When he stepped inside the Grand Ole Opry, all he could do was take it all in. Coker never thought that he would have been standing on the stage of unbelievable nostalgia in country music.
