Tired of the same restaurants around campus? Well, get ready to try something new.
Jamie Allred, chef, and farm owner, looks to open a new restaurant, Holden Oversoul Kitchen and Oyster Bar, across the street from Farmhouse.
“I sold my old restaurant in Clayton about two years ago,” said Allred. “Bought a farm in Cornelia. I always knew I eventually would want to open another restaurant. I spent about a year really focusing on my farm before I started looking for a new restaurant space.”
Allred looked in Downtown Cornelia for a new location but wasn’t pleased with what he had to choose from. After meeting with the city a few times, he eventually liked one spot they had to offer him.
“The menu will include produce grown on my farm and meishan pork raised on my farm. Great selection of fresh oysters and fresh seafood. We will offer all types of oysters, shrimp, lobster tail dishes, shareable appetizers, a variety of dips and even some charcuterie,” said Allerd. “The plates will range from eight dollars to $15.”
Discounts and specials will also be offered at this location. Allred is planning to host fish fried Sunday’s and on Wednesday’s, build your own steamer bucket. Piedmont University students can also expect a 20% discount on Thursdays.
This restaurant will have 38 seats inside and approximately 20-30 seats outside on the patio. Also get ready to enjoy live bands and a bar with cold drinks.
“My expectation for the restaurant is to serve great quality food,” said Allred. “I want my restaurant to help start Demorest as a destination for great food.”
Students and the community can expect the opening of this new restaurant at the beginning of April.
