The Student Commons was called out over the concern of a low health score rating of 83 due to the presence of mold and improper food temperatures. Since then, the cafeteria has worked hard to improve its health standards, and the workers have raised their health score considerably to a 97. Here is what the manager for Chartwell’s Dining, Brad Clark, had to say about the Dining Hall’s efforts to improve the quality of their food experience for the students:
“Chartwells and Piedmont Dining are committed to providing a quality dining experience for the students and staff of Piedmont University. We welcome all feedback and use that in the continuous improvement of our operations. We regularly conduct internal inspections, and we receive inspections from independent organizations as well. The increase in the most recent health department score is a direct result of the passion and dedication of the team at Piedmont Dining. We look forward to continuing to serve Piedmont University and are proud to be part of this community.”
Students have also shared their own thoughts about how they feel about the improved health score. All students have been kept anonymous.
“You can definitely tell they’re trying harder, but it doesn’t make me feel any better knowing that they might be leaving food out.”
“They provide us with great food. I appreciate all the caf ladies and men that cook the food for us.”
As students, we are happy that the cafeteria has taken such great steps to improve their health standards. It may take time for all the students to feel safe again, but the students should know that they can walk into the Dining Hall and feel secure knowing that the people in charge of the Dining Hall will go to great lengths to protect them and provide them with an optimal on-campus dining experience.
