The Lady Lions softball team is looking ready for another successful season for this upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Last season, the Lady’s Lionswent 25-18 on the year, going 10-6 in the conference. They were not able to go forward in the playoffs.
“This season is going to have a lot of eyes looking at us,” said sophomore Riley Erickson, who batted .300 in 10 ABs last season. “Two years ago we won the conference and continued playing in nationals, however, last year was not the same story. Last year we had trouble binding together and executing our game like we knew we could. Our goal this year is to get a ring. Some of our standout players will be Kara Taylor who has always been a strong bat and a good leader, Kenny Votava, who is a speedy slapper with a good bat, Riley Ford who has always been a consistent pitcher. As for incoming freshmen, I think we have a lot of good talent that is going to surprise a lot of people.”
The Lady Lions have 12 freshmen to help the team get back on the top and hopefully make it back to the CCS Tournament and bring home the tournament trophy.
The Lady Lions first game of the season will be at home on Saturday, Feb. 17, taking on Mount St. Joseph University. Keep up with Piedmont softball’s season at piedmontlions.com.
