The Lions baseball team looks to be ready to bring another Collegiate Conference of the South title for the 2023-2024 season.
Last season, the Lions had an unforgettable year going 26-17 overall and 8-9 in the conference, and winning the CCS championship versus Maryville University.
“We are excited for the 2024 season, and our players have worked extremely hard this fall and offseason to be prepared,” said head coach Justin Scali. “We have a great group of upperclassmen who are doing an excellent job in keeping their teammates focused, as we have a very challenging non-conference schedule, featuring multiple top-25 opponents as well as competing in the very deep Collegiate Conference of the South.”
The Lions are bringing back some of their top performers from last season. These players include senior Kolton Hicks, who had a batting average of .335 and six home runs last season, with 32 RBIs. Junior Kyle Carlson averaged .311 and had 4 home runs last season, with 40 RBIs. These players are the ones to look out for in the upcoming season.
The Lions will begin their season by taking on Chapman University on Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. at Loudermilk Field. For all Piedmont baseball updates, keep up to date at piedmontlions.com.
