As the new year is starting up, this means new faces in the classrooms. Not talking about the new Piedmont class of 2027. There are new professors here at Piedmont University.
They might be as nervous as you are, but don’t worry, they just want to help you learn and become the best student you can be and succeed in the future.
Dr. Fournato is one of the new professors; she is the Assistant professor of Biology and has a Ph.D. from The University of Alabama. Some people on campus don’t know her that well, but Sophomore Elementary Education major Caroline Massaro shows how she is different from other professors.
“I like her personality and her excitement for being at Piedmont,” said Massaro. “I think she could be very beneficial for bio majors, and if Piedmont has an oceanography major she would be incredible for them.”
Dr. Fournato has high hopes for her students, and she seems to really think she could succeed and build a career in Piedmont. Well, if Massaro thinks this way, I bet she would be happy here and be able to help students’ goals turn into a reality.
“She seems personable and has that new professor excitement, and you can tell she likes science,” said Massaro. “I think she could succeed at Piedmont if she is able to branch out the normal/old school teaching strategies.”
Dr. Fournato has a bright future here at Piedmont.
Another new face at Piedmont is Professor Naomi Woodbury, she is a Mathematics Instructor with an MS in mathematical Sciences-Statistics at the College of Charleston, a BS in mathematics-Actuarial at Anderson University. Never heard of her, well Freshman Elementary Education major, Kelly Mashburn can you tell all about her.
“She’s really nice and welcoming,” said Mashburn. “She makes the class light up. I believe she will bring a welcoming spirit to Piedmont. With her kindness and caring spirit, it makes you feel at home.”
Professor Woodbury seems like she has been here for years, but it’s only her first year. Woodbury wants to make her students feel welcome and not be nervous for her classes. Woodbury wants to have a great relationship with her students so that they will trust her and be able to come to her with questions.
“She makes the class interactive and makes learning an adventure,” said Mashburn. “With her drive and willingness, she will succeed at anything, definitely her job.”
If this doesn’t tell you how special this professor is, I don’t know what will. Just remember, these new professors are here to help you succeed, not push you down. Enjoy this school with these new professors and you’ll be able to have fun and learn a lot.
