Piedmont University welcomed families, friends and students to campus for the annual Fall Family Day hosted by Piedmont’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) on Saturday, Sept. 14.
This fantastic tradition brings families who haven’t seen their students since move-in or a time to spend together. Many students get homesick while staying here, but that’s why this particular event is here for them. They want families to stay on campus and spend some quality time with their students instead of looking for somewhere to go.
This event started with a meet and greet with Piedmont’s President Criser. He wanted everyone to be welcomed here and feel at home. This was a perfect opportunity for families get to know President Criser and see how vibrant the campus is.
“I think the event went really well,” said senior Rylie Erickson. “I think the best part about family day was the painting table because all the kids were able to paint different things. I also thought it was cool because it was family friendly with a lot of things to do for smaller children.”
Fall Family Day offered a rich array of activities designed to appeal to all ages. Families were able to play sand volleyball, participate in arts and crafts inside the Commons, and also had the opportunity to attend the Parton Me! with Dolly Tribute with Kate Deal and Band at Arrendale Amphitheater. The whole day was full of fun!
“I loved all the different activities that everyone could participate in,” said freshman Allie Watkins. “This event is so special to students because so many students live far away from home, and this is an opportunity for their parents and loved ones to travel out for a day and see their family.”
The live entertainment added a lively touch to the day’s events. Attendees were more than pleased with their experience at the Parton Me! with Dolly Tribute at the end of the day.
“I think the event is so special because it’s a time for their family to come hang out with other students like them for the day. It was fun and interactive,” said Erickson.
Piedmont University’s Fall Family Day was a resounding success, reflecting the school’s dedication to celebrating its students and families. As the leaves turn into different colors and the air grows cooler, Piedmont looks forward to next year’s Fall Family Day!
